Artist Statement
I believe not everything has to have an explanation, maybe its due to the fact that I never was so good with words; nevertheless I believe the dialogue between an artwork and the viewer should be a pure emotion and not intellectual.
I want people to be able to think and not be told what they see. I want them to relate and refute as they pleased. Since my work is depicted through my inner emotions, my main weapon in expressing it is through different mediums.
I have recently been working on a series of naked women with mediums such as oil, acrylic, etching and pastels. My emotional fear could be seen within my rough lines in etching whereas my inner peace is melted within the light brush storks in my figures. Pastels have always brought out my softer side, while acrylics conveyed how restless I can be.
Life tests us how we can control our emotions, and I’d like to think of it as a practice for enlightenment and an open door to harmony.
